Geology 4321: Drone Mapping and Photogrammetry

The course will start with an overview of the basic knowledge required for passing the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilots Knowledge Test for small UAS operators, including UAS mapping technology and its rules and regulations, airspace classification, and reading aeronautical charts. The principles of UAS data collection are explained along with hands-on practice in flight planning and execution, as well as processing collected imagery. (Co-listed with Civ Eng 4321, Geo Eng 4321, Geophys 4321, Min Eng 4321)

Prerequisites: Basic computer knowledge. Either Civ Eng 2401 or Geo Eng 3148 or equivalent.
